The
Pledge: Exposing The Anti-Gun Pledge |
|
Investigation of The Pledge
I first called the South
Carolina Attorney's General Office because the school administrators stated
that it was an approved program by the U.S. Attorney General's office. I spoke
to Tarra Lyons (803-929-3000). I was assured by her that there were no anti-gun
messages being sent by her and the 20 to 50 people (in South Carolina) who went
into schools organizing the Pledge. In fact she specifically stated that her
people use many of the NRA's Eddie Eagle gun safety pro-gun program postulates
to get their message across. She also told me that her role in The Pledge was
to enlighten children about violence, not to separate them from hunting and
target practice with their parents. In fact she specifically stated that communication
between parents and children needs to happen to help with violence in our society.
MY QUESTION: If the Eddie Eagle program is so successful, why is The Pledge
being used? And who qualifies these people, and who monitors them?
She is a believer in dialogue between parents and children but stated, unfortunately
the anti-2A activists realize the lacking communications gap between parents
and children, was a vulnerable strike area for the anti-2A subversions. The
anti-2A activists are also counting on the power of teachers and the slanting
of health books (who do not footnote their "gun facts") and other speakers will
distort the true message: which is don't do violence but gives them the porthole
to denigrate weapons, defense, and the American way. She had no idea about the
subversion of the anti-gun activists or the slanting of The Pledge after she
and her group talked to students. Keep in mind we now need in our schools speakers
from an Attorney General's office to teach our children about guns and violence
for a nonexistent health model epidemic and problem. We now need this to replace
or augment parental responsibility? Remember your tax dollars are paying for
this.
Next person I contacted was the enforcement officer from the police department
(Horry County Police Officer Cricket Barnes, 843-756-2181) who is placed specifically
in the school to explain the law about guns to the students. She also assured
me that she specifically deals with only the letter of the law concerning illegal
use and carry of weapons in schools. She takes questions from the students and
explains to them the ramifications in her answers that strictly deal with the
law. But here again the anti-gun will be able to get their message across because
she:
1) is not an expert on the gun rights issue;
2) cannot prevent prejudices from creeping into her answers; and
3) is being used by the anti-gun activists to spread their poisonous message.
Also please keep in
mind we now need in our schools representatives from our law enforcement agencies
residing in our schools teaching our children about laws on guns? Basing their
presence (the law enforcement agency) on lawful use of guns for a nonexistent
health model epidemic and problem? We now need this to replace or augment parental
responsibility? Remember your tax dollars are paying for this.
My next step was to verify The Pledge endorsers (23) against the NRA's database
for groups trying to take away our Second Amendment rights. Sixteen of the endorsing
groups were on the list. Four that were not on the NRA Black List , but by going
to their websites and getting more information on them, I found they were also
to be rabidly anti-gun. One mentioned nothing about weapons, and the remaining
one showed both sides of the issue and the other was trying to stay neutral.
NRA quote: "The following groups have lent monetary, grassroots or some other type of direct support to anti-gun groups. In many instances, these groups lent their name in support of specific campaigns to pass anti-gun legislation such as the March 1995 HCI "Campaign to Protect Sane Gun Laws." Many of these groups were listed as "Campaign Partners," for having Pledged to fight any efforts to repeal the Brady Act and the Clinton "assault weapons" ban. All have officially endorsed anti-gun stands."
Some Pledge endorsers
are on the NRA's Blacklist (http://NRAILA.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?ID=15
)
and all are listed at The Pledge site (pledge.org/organizations.html):
Groups on the NRA Blacklist that endorse The Pledge:
• American Association of School Administrators (AASA.org)
• American Federation of Teachers (AFT.org)
• American Medical Association (AMA-Assn.org)
• Council of Great City Schools (CGCS.org)
• Episcopal Church (ECUSA.Anglican.org)
• Evangelical Lutheran Church, Department for Schools (ELCA.org/education)
• Hadassah (Hadassah.org)
• League of Women Voters (LWV.org)
• National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSPcms.Principals.org)
• National Association of Social Workers (NASWDC.org)
• National Education Association (NEA.org)
• Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR.org)
• United Church of Christ, Justice & Witness Ministries (UCC.org/jwm)
• United Methodist Church, General Board of Church & Society (UMC-GBCS.org)
Anti-gun Pledge endorsers not the NRA Blacklist:
• Common Sense About Kids & Guns (KidsAndGuns.org)
• Educational Fund to End Handgun Violence (GunFree.org)
• Marylanders Against Handgun Abuse (HGAbuse.org)
• National Association of Student Councils (NASC.us)
• National School Boards Association (NSBA.org)Note: The Presbyterian Church in America (PCANet.org) is also listed as a Pledge endorser, but has no anti-2A information on their website.
Then I researched further
and checked the State agencies that promote The Pledge (pledge.org/contacts.shtml).
Not counting the individuals, every Pledge-endorsing group trumpets a rabidly
anti-gun stance except for one (Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida).
More information tying the
anti-gun agenda being used a subversion on our children utilizing The Pledge.
It is no secret about the zero tolerance gone astray, in schools regarding weaponry.
I have heard stories from students that if one talks about guns, draws a gun
on a piece of paper, pretends to shoot using their fingers, or tries to espouse
his/her 2A rights -- down to the school psychologist, call in Social Services,
and get a prescription for Ritalin (fear based indoctrination). The liberal
left wing teachers and school authorities, who basically know nothing about
the real facts about guns, preach their anti-gun stances. I have listened to
parents tell me stories of how their children have demonized their practices
of hunting and carrying concealed weaponry. Using the brainwashing in the schools
they have turned on their own parents and caused rifts in the households. There
is a definite link to the Pledge and these problems because they crop up consistently
more often directly right after "Pledge Day". Unfortunately these instances
of rifts happen throughout the entire school year and upon talking to the children
it can always be traced back to the information they are receiving in schools.
The children brainwashed with The Pledge are only shown a distorted and untrue
positioning about weapons this positioning is distorted with unfounded statistics
(no footnoted health books) teachers opinions based on distortions given in
the media, and slanted anti-gun medical hype. The major players denoted above,
endorses of The Pledge, seal off the Second Amendment and what it stands for
and how guns really protect and save lives. Do you think that the National Education
Association (NEA), the school officials both administratively or the teachers,
the anti-gun activists, health books back by bogus unconfirmed facts, are not
pushing their negative stands? These antis are not concerned about safety of
the children because if they did they would listen to the real statistics. They
are interested in shutting down the Second Amendment, period! Another example
of accessibility of guns in the home was proven in Dr. Lott's study:
"There was a drop in murders of children following the adoption of carry laws and the readily availability of guns. Armed citizens not only provided direct protection for these children, but CAUSED CRIMINALS TO LEAVE THE AREA WHERE THERE IS CONCEALED CARRY." --Source: Dr. John R. Lott Jr. (University of Chicago), "More Guns, Less Crime".
Dr. Lott's study, held to a .01% significant factor, encompasses over 3,054 counties (all counties inclusive in the continental U.S.) throughout the U.S. from 1977-1992 (the only long term longitudinal study done in the U.S.) and has shown conclusively that the more citizens are armed conversely decreases crime, PERIOD. From murder down to aggravated assaults and everything in between, the armed citizen are the major deterrent. Guns must be available and be ready for use.
Protecting children against school violence? How are our children protected? They are not. Below they were protected!
When a 16-year-old shot his way through Pearl High School in Mississippi (killing 2, wounding 7), he was finally stopped by school principal Joel Myrick, who had a gun-in violation of the federal Gun-Free School Act, which prohibits firearms within 1,000 feet of a school. Unfortunately the 16 year old in Pearl, the rabid shooters in Columbine and others, forgot to read the law about no carrying arms in school.
When I visited schools to gather information on this article I could not believe the lack of security. If I had bad intentions to harm and kill everyone of these schools were defenseless. Hundreds could be slaughtered but the myth, the tragic myth being perpetrated is being pushed through The Pledge. Through teachers, principals, and entire educational system are honed in to the NEA's mindset. The NEA's bias and anti-gun doctrines are then multiplied.
