To All Horry County Residents: Every county in the United States in 2003 had a reduction in crime except Horry County which showed a rise in crime. In 2002 Horry County had 16,265 crimes committed in 2003 it jumped to 17,373 (2003 rated the third highest crime county in SC) Horry County crime has increased in almost every category since 2000, 4 years running: murder, rape, robbery, kidnapping, vandalism, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and motor vehicle traffic. In 2004 there were over 37,006 crime cases investigated. The 2005 numbers are not in yet but we have already had 18+ murders-All information is taken from the Horry County Police blotters and SLED. Has the council told the public about the entrenchment of gangland crime in our county? Have you heard about anything I mentioned above? We in Horry County have a political machine that has made our county one of the most crime-ridden areas in South Carolina. All information is documented on the website publicrights.org Months ago, a plan was submitted for an ordinance to insure the safety of the residents of Horry County. The ordinance would cost nothing to start up or maintain and would not change the personal lives of the residents. The Ordinance would guarantee that crime would have dropped by a minimum of 60-80% during the first year, without an increase in taxes or police expansion. The ordinance would have decreased crime substantially, even as the population grew-This ordinance has a 23 year old success track record. We presented the Public Safety Committee and the full council indisputable evidence and 2 national organization's recommendation letters that urged them to move on the Safety Ordinance. The Public Safety Committee distorted our information about the ordinance and shot the idea down. Then, the full Horry County Council ridiculed the idea publicly and shut it down. This ordinance has nothing to do with police competency - the police cannot protect the individual. Police are obligated by law (Supreme Court decisions from 1951 to present) to protect the public good. They do not have, nor should they have the responsibility to protect the individual, it is up to you and only you. I was going to bring the Ordinance for a referendum for the people to vote on, but the Council has that locked-up. Even with the prescribed votes to initiate a referendum, they can veto it without explanation from it being put on a ballot. We pay enough tax dollars and do not get it back in the protection of our lives or our property. These politicians are a detriment to our County and our lives. Their direction is bordering on criminal behavior. They are expert at increasing taxes and giving you nothing back in return except higher crime rates. Only you, the voters, can demand the Safety Ordinance and turn Horry County around. Visit the website PublicRights.org. I will repeat all information is documented on the website PublicRights.org Some examples of what is running this county: Chairwoman Elizabeth D. Gilland, when running Conway, was noted for having one the highest crime areas in the County - 5000% over the national average. We know - we had to sell our home and move due to fighting the crime in our neighborhood for over 3 years. Now she is the Chairman of this Council and has been replaced in Conway by outspoken against the ordinance Carl Schwartzkopf - nonvoting member of the Safety Committee. Schwartzkopf's crime stats has gone beyond Miss Gilland's record. All stats from a 4-year study from years 2000 to 2003 using the Conway Police Department's statistics. John Boyd, Chairman of Public Safety Committee, was supplied information before our public safety committee meeting (full packet). Called him 3 weeks later for input on the information he said he could not take the time to read it-unadulterated arrogance was his message and tone Paul Whitten, Director Department of Public safety business, hired not voted in, could not be bothered, Paul Prince, Loris representative on the council, was notified 9 weeks before the full council meeting for his backing and input. Never called back when I finally talked to him all I heard was complaints about his workload for a nonpaying position. This is the caliber of people that ruled against the Horry County Safety Ordinance. They can BS but they can't deny the crime stats. Check out the website publicrights.org, contact us we need supporters to stop the rampant crime in our county. Neal and Melissa Seaman 716-0511. You have only yourselves to rely on in getting the crime out of the county-you certainly cannot rely on this governing body-Website publicrights.org also tune into WIS News talk radio 1320 AM at 11:00 Saturday mornings. NOW FOR THE KICKER: CHAIRMAN LIZ GILLAND COULD NOT ATTACK THE STATS BUT ATTACKED ME PERSONALLY TO SAY THAT I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A PROFIT ON THIS. SHOWS YOU HOW STUPID AND OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY THESE COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE. THEY JUST DON'T GET IT. WHAT THEY DO GET IS KEEP RIPPING OF THE PUBLIC IN TAXES FOR POLICE PROTECTION THAT WILL NOT LOWER THE CRIME RATE SUBSTANTIALLY BUT WILL KEEP THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT POCKETS LINED FOR THESE SPECIAL INTEREST THIEVES (HORRY COUNTY COUNCIL). WELL FOLKS IT IS UP TO YOU. WE
CAN STOP PAYING OUR TAXES LEGALLY UNTIL WE GET ACTION, WE CAN PROTEST
TO OUR LOCAL COUNCIL CRITTERS, OR WE CAN TAKE A STAND AT THE COUNCIL MEETINGS
UNITED, BUT YOU HAVE GOT TO WANT TO DO IT. CALL AND WE WILL ORGANIZE IT.
THESE COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE NOT JUST SUCKING YOU DRY WITH TAX INCREASES
FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT BUT THEY ARE PUTTING EVERY FAMILY IN DANGER THAT LIVES
UNDER THEIR COUNTY (WHICH IS BY THE WAY IS REALLY YOUR COUNTY- THEY ARE
SUPPOSED TO DO OUR BIDDING NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! P.S. Hey Liz I don't need or rely on business profits for sales in Horry County. I have an Internet business which has it's base in selling nationally and is very successful. Wrong again! |

Progress Tracking Horry
County: A NOTE ABOUT
THE HORRY COUNTY COUNCIL AND THE HORRY COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE:
THESE ARE THE MOST CORRUPT LEGISLATORS I HAVE HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF MEETING.
TO PROTECT THEIR SPECIAL INTERESTS (WHICH IS MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE OF THE
CITIZEN'S INTERESTS) THEY PERVERTED AND DISTORTED THE TRUTH AND THEN AT
THEIR FULL COUNCIL MEETING LIED AND DID NOT REVIEW THE PERTINENT MATERIALS.
OUR OWN COUNCILMAN, MR. PAUL PRINCE, DISTRICT 9 WAS PART OF THIS HYPOCRISY
