Dear Neal and Melissa: I wish to commend you and Melissa in your efforts to try and implement the Safety Ordinance in the Town of Loris and Horry County. My wife and I support your efforts because we know that the Ordinance will drive crime out. An armed or perceived armed society with government backing, Ordinance passage, can do nothing short of that. I have been following gun related issues for over a decade now, and the one fact that always surfaces is the criminal element, rapists, looters, thieves, and murderers have one thing in common: they are cowards. They prey on the weak, the old, and the defenseless. If there is even a hint that they themselves will get hurt or killed they move on. The Kennesaw Ordinance is the electric prod to move them out of our towns and out of our county. The residents cannot loose backing your efforts in promoting the Safety Ordinance. As an aside I noticed that you are also trying to solve the problems that your town, Loris, is sustaining with the Maple Street bottom. We lived (my wife and I) in Loris for many years. The first year we were there, within a two week period of time, there were two killings that were drug related in the bottom. We witnessed the Maple street situation go from bad to worse. Throngs of people like gangs clog up a public street and they take their "inner city attitudes" and go out into the town creating a volatile environment. The Maple Street bottom is not only a stain on the whole town but is dangerous. We have since moved from the town of Loris. The bottom does not belong in a civilized society of law abiding folks. It is not safe for the town's reputation. It is not safe for the citizen's living in that town or in the surrounding areas. You cannot contain that type of element it seeps out and spreads and the law abiding resident suffers. Jim Heverly |

County: A NOTE ABOUT
THE HORRY COUNTY COUNCIL AND THE HORRY COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE:
THESE ARE THE MOST CORRUPT LEGISLATORS I HAVE HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF MEETING.
TO PROTECT THEIR SPECIAL INTERESTS (WHICH IS MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE OF THE
CITIZEN'S INTERESTS) THEY PERVERTED AND DISTORTED THE TRUTH AND THEN AT
THEIR FULL COUNCIL MEETING LIED AND DID NOT REVIEW THE PERTINENT MATERIALS.
