Dear Neal, My family relocated to Myrtle Beach 3 years ago. While we anticipated continued growth in our area, we did not expect to feel threatened in our own neighborhood. I was recently accosted at a local gas station and to say it scared me was an understatement. I started to think about how vulnerable I was, and more importantly, how could I protect myself and my family from being in such a situation again? I am not Annie Oakley, nor am I ready to start a subdivision militia, but I am going to legally arm myself with a weapon. The population is steadily rising in Horry County but employment opportunities are limited, especially in the rural areas. With the gap widening between the haves and the have-nots, I feel it is my responsibility to ensure the safety of my family. Our elected officials should realize they can't provide enough policeman to protect all of us. With responsible, law-abiding citizens properly trained in the use and ownership of their firearms, the county WILL be a safer place to live. I refuse to become one of the statistics our elected officials are waiting for in order to support our endeavor. Thanks! Christina McGrath |

Progress Tracking Horry
County: A NOTE ABOUT
THE HORRY COUNTY COUNCIL AND THE HORRY COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE:
THESE ARE THE MOST CORRUPT LEGISLATORS I HAVE HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF MEETING.
TO PROTECT THEIR SPECIAL INTERESTS (WHICH IS MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE OF THE
CITIZEN'S INTERESTS) THEY PERVERTED AND DISTORTED THE TRUTH AND THEN AT
THEIR FULL COUNCIL MEETING LIED AND DID NOT REVIEW THE PERTINENT MATERIALS.
OUR OWN COUNCILMAN, MR. PAUL PRINCE, DISTRICT 9 WAS PART OF THIS HYPOCRISY
